The Reasoning Behind MY Love for Fall.
Every year
we put on a Halloween party at my house. It’s a blast. First we head to the
church to participate in the trunk or treat for the ward. My whole family
dresses up for this occasion! This year my dad didn’t feel the vibe, but my
brother sure did. Being in Australia where they don’t celebrate Halloween, he
was sooo excited! We have this closet in our house that has all of my dance
costumes, dresses, and costumes we’ve worn in the past; so we took a look. And low
and behold we found the perfect costume! It was my dance outfit when I was
about 10 or so. Basically it was a tad tight on him. But let’s just say he
rocked it!!! My mum had gone to Reams to get a few things, and that’s where she
got our lovely masks, a sweet find. Let’s just say I’m hanging mine up in my
room! My sister was a cave woman. She’s a babe, so she pulled it off well!
Anywho, the trunk or treat was a blast! All of the cousins came to join getting
free hot chocolate, candy, and laughs! Once it was over we headed back to our
house. The whole family contributed to the dinner portion of the night. We had
every kind of soup, chili, witches brew (dried ice and root beer), smoked
roast, and lots of treats (of course) !!! After everyone was done eating, we
played BINGO!!! It’s a tradition that we play a few rounds until all the prizes
are gone, and then move on to our favorite…CARDS! For those who don’t know the
Guymons, don’t know that we are obsessed with card games. We literally played
cards for hours! 8 of us played Nerts, and the “older” clan played a more
relaxed game. If you don’t know my family, you aren’t aware of how loud we are
when we are all together. Sometimes it’s a little much, but it’s all part of
the experience! Anyway, for some odd reason we started to show each other funny
commercial clips. We were all dying by the time we had watched them all. They’re
mostly all pretty inappropriate, but we were all laughing so hard! Watch if you dare.

My grandparents
have just finished a service mission for the LDS church, so the family from
Spanish Fork slept over at various family members houses. At our house we hosted
Brendon, his beautiful wife Jerrica, their cute baby Nixon, and Nate! My brother
and Brendon started talking about their mission experiences, so of course I had
to stay and listen. They were “exclusive” mission experiences. They went ON AND
ON!!!! Seriously though, we were all laughing our heads off from the crazy
things they did. We stayed up till 2. As I got in bed and set my alarm, I was
pissed. I had to get up in 3 hours!!!! As I laid there thinking, I realized
that if I wouldn’t have stayed up I wouldn’t of had those bonding moments with
my brother, sister and cousins. Sometimes staying up later than you want to
makes it so you gain more knowledge. Sacrifice those things you love, sleep, to learn more.

As I took
a step back from all of this, I thought why do I love fall, what’s the reason
behind it? My family, they are the only
reason. During the next few months I see my family more than usual. During all
the major holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. They are all
centered on the family. Then I thought about eternity, if I get to be
with my family 24/7, then I can’t wait for life after death. SIGN ME UP. (but
not yet) There’s this spirit they bring out of me. They love me for who I am,
which makes is so much easier to show my true colors. I’m so blessed to have a
wonderful family that loves each other, and how easy it is for us to create so many memories
together that I can cherish for a lifetime. This weekend was a special one
to me. It was a chance to forget about the world, forget about the worries,
heart aches, and all the stresses on my shoulders. I was able to get my happiness, confidence,
love, and fun ometer full.
So this
week, be the person that brings the best out of people. Make people laugh. Be too
loud. Create memories with each other. Take too many pictures. Stay up late to bond with someone. Support
someone. LAUGH. LIVE. LOVE.
