Every Second of Everyday
Ever since the massacre in Las Vegas, I have been in deep thought about this life we live.
Almost everyday at school, I ask my kiddos in ASL, “How’s your day going?” sometimes I will specifically say, depending on which day it is, “How is your Monday going?” Without fail, there will be at least 3-10 students that say- “I HATE Monday.”
With any other day I would nod my head and agree with them such as:
- “The weekend needs to be longer”
- “I’m tired too”
- “Monday’s are awful”
But today, as I was pondering restlessly about the horrid thing that took place (not far from my home) my attitude and perspective completely changed.
I had this “AHA” moment.
How many of the innocent individuals at the Mandalay Bay shooting wish that they could have another Monday?
How many people wish their loved ones that were taken could have a day we take for granted?
How do we take this life so non-chalantly? We think of only SOME days as good days- (aka the weekend.) and other days as “bad” days. Why aren’t we enjoying EVERY single day we are given? And not just the days we are really looking forward to?
It brings tears to my eyes to think people are waking up and upset it’s not a different day.
Life goes by WAYYY too fast to wish upon a different day in the future.
We need to cherish EVER second of EVERYDAY. I know what you’re thinking- HOW can I be happy or cherish every waking moment? I’ve found in my life, it takes practice. It takes an attitude change. It takes a perspective change. It takes consistency. No one can have a "perfect" day, but how you look at your day and how you handle your day, you can make it YOUR perfect.
Looking back on my life, I have learned I don’t get moments back, so why spoil them with a negative attitude or worrying about every little thing. (Didn't anyone else start singing, "Every little thing, is gonna be alright"? Cause I sure did. HA)
I challenge you to find something good in everyday you are given; for it will never come back again.
HAPPY MONDAY
